Future of Web Apps
So I’m back in Tokyo and back to work. FOWA & London was fun.
FOWA: Geeks. Good conversations. Beer. Could have been better only if I could get wifi working. Speaker lineups were great on both developer and entrepreneur tracks so some of interesting sessions clashed. Looking froward for recorded media. Two workshops I chose to attended on 3rd day, Building a Successful Web App with Rashmi Sinha and Scaling The LAMP Stack with Daniel Lieberman were also interesting. Specially the 2nd was highly informative than I expected.
Diggnation live recoding was a highlight with an amazing trunover, proceed by the after party.
So what’s the future of web apps? I don’t think anybody knows. But two thoughts in general.
One:
Finally there seem to be an increasing amount of interest in single logins, portable social networks and related ideas. So being true to the original vision of World Wide Web, we can expect more and more apps and social networks to open up, talk to each other nicely and sincerely understand peoples’ (user’s / my) necessities.
Two:
Social networks. I hope people will seriously start to think about applications and services that will that will map true human social interactions, instead of making leisure-lands or alternative internets. They should be device independent, real time and should understand true social interactions and help to improve them.
There goes my 2 yens. Photos are here btw.
